List
1 Piece of background fabric cut 22" x 22" suggest
a cotton candy soft pink
tone on tone, soft muted paisley or
a muted stripe
Fat Quarters of the following colors
Black or brown print for the vase,
you can share half your fat
quarter with a friend in class
Fat Quarters or
scraps of dark, medium and light green prints for the
vines and leaves
Could be small prints, florals, check or something wild for
excitement.
The more scraps the
better.
Fat Quarters of scraps of 3 or more red or red orange prints
for the outer
petals of the flowers and something
lighter for the throats of the flowers, could
be in the same family of colors or
entirely different. The 3rd red needs to be
dark and will be used for all the
berries. You will learn to make perfect berry
circles in class.
Three good size scraps of yellow prints for the stars, they
could be all the
same fabric or 3 different fabrics,
swap with your friends in class.
Think scrappy.
Thread - Silk or 100 percent fine machine embroidery thread
under the brand
name of Mettler or bring what you
like, it needs to match the fabrics you are
using to appliqué with.
DMC embroidery thread - the uglier color the better, used
for basting and
needs to be a contrast of the
fabric you are using to appliqué.
Suggested colors, purple, fuchsia, lime green, black,
white...
can be had at Hobby Lobby or
Michael's probably 5 skeins or
any junky quilting thread you may
never use again.
A Light Box - a necessary item. There will be 2 or 3 in the
classroom.
Bring your sewing basket with pins,
needles, a black Sharpie pen and
small sharp scissors.
Teaching the Back Basting Method only. No template making,
no bias tape
making for stems, no freezer paper.
You will be appliquéing like a pro in 30
minutes and have instant
gratification while learning this technique.
There will
be a $4.50 charge for the patterns. Books, threads, needles
preferred by
the teacher will be brought.
Circleeze and needler threaders that may be
purchased during class.
